A wireless communications device, such as a Universal Serial Bus (USB) dongle device 200, comprises a USB connection interface 202 so as to be connected to a computing device, preferably through a USB 2.0 port. The wireless communications device 200 further comprises a wireless telephony transceiver 210, for receiving and generating Radio Frequency (RF) signals, a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card connector 208 and an antenna 206 to facilitate wireless communications. The wireless communications device 200 is characterised by a power management module 204 to provide power of at least 5 volts and 2 amperes for the wireless communications through a single USB port. Furthermore, a communications module (404 fig.4), through which a user may input information for identifying a type of wireless communications to be executed, is able to provide Inter-Ic Sound Electrical Interface (I2S) over USB through Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) (see figure 3). |
