PURPOSE: A compound as a dye is provided to ensure a high molar extinction coefficient and high solubility in an organic solvent and to be used in a color filter. CONSTITUTION: A compound as a dye is denoted by chemical formula I or I'. A method for preparing the compound of chemical formula I' comprises a step of reacting a compound of chemical formula II with a compound of chemical formula III under the absence of a solvent. The dye is used for displaying colors in a fiber material, a liquid crystal display device, and an inkjet.
