摘要 PURPOSE: A membrane-electrode assembly for fuel cells is provided to prevent the deterioration of a fuel cell polymer electrolyte membrane, thereby improving the durability and reliability of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: A membrane-electrode assembly for fuel cells comprise an electrolyte membrane(101); and a fuel electrode and air electrode of compression catalyst layers(102,102`) facing each other around the electrolyte membrane. Each of the compression catalyst layers comprises an ion conductive material and a metal catalyst which can be the same or different to each other. The compression ratio in a thickness direction(R_ano) of fuel electrode compression catalyst layer and the compression ratio in a thickness direction(R_cat) of the air electrode compression catalyst layer satisfies the following conditions: 0<R_ano = 0.5, 0<R_cat<R_ano, and 0.4&le;R_cat/R_ano<1.
