PURPOSE: A membrane-electrode assembly for fuel cells is provided to prevent the deterioration of a fuel cell polymer electrolyte membrane, thereby improving the durability and reliability of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: A membrane-electrode assembly for fuel cells comprise an electrolyte membrane(101); and a fuel electrode and air electrode of compression catalyst layers(102,102`) facing each other around the electrolyte membrane. Each of the compression catalyst layers comprises an ion conductive material and a metal catalyst which can be the same or different to each other.
