Aluminium alloy balustrading comprises generally I-sectioned uprights 56 which pass through holes 55 in upper and lower channel sectioned rails 51a and 51b and are secured by channel-shaped pegs 59. The uprights may be of V- (as shown), U-, or linear section, with or without additional terminal flanges (Figs. 4a-4d, not shown), and the rails have return flanges 53 against which the ends of the uprights abut. A channel-section aluminium handrail may be clipped over the upper rail 51a (Fig. 2, not shown), and a sealing strip 62 may be clipped into the opening in the lower rail 51b. Panels 69 may be employed to fill in the space between two adjacent uprights, being clamped between bars 70a and 70b bolted to the rails, the bars having pivot points abutting the. rails so that their edges farthest from the rails press against the panels. With more fragile panels, the panel edges are protected by channel-sectioned members 78a, b (Fig. 9, not shown), bolted in turn to the rails. |
