FIELD: construction.SUBSTANCE: welding device comprises two halves of the device, each equipped with an electrode pair, which are moved towards each other in longitudinal direction of a railway track. The electrode pair is provided to transmit current and has contact surfaces for application onto a rail. Each electrode has two contact surfaces separated from each other. The upper contact surface along the vertical line is arranged for application onto a lower side profile of a rail head.
