A hermetic type compressor is provided to simplify the structure of a valve assembly by mounting a suction valve and discharge valve within a valve plate, and to facilitate opening and closing of a suction hole by the suction valve, since the suction valve and valve plate make stable contact with each other at all times. A hermetic type compressor comprises a cylinder, a cylinder head, and a valve assembly. The cylinder defines a compression chamber. The cylinder head is divided into a refrigerant suction chamber and a refrigerant discharge chamber. The valve assembly is disposed between the cylinder and the cylinder head to control the flow of refrigerant which is sucked from the refrigerant suction chamber to the compression chamber or discharged from the compression chamber to the refrigerant discharge chamber. The valve assembly comprises a valve plate(40) having a suction hole(41) communicating between the compression chamber and the refrigerant suction chamber and a discharge hole(42) communicating between the refrigerant discharge chamber and the compression chamber, and a suction valve(50) and a discharge valve(60) that are respectively assembled to the valve plate to open and close the suction hole and discharge hole, wherein the suction valve and discharge valve are flat-type valves to be mounted within the valve plate. A first mounting groove(43) for receiving the suction valve is formed on one side of the valve plate around a periphery of the suction hole, and a second mounting groove(44) is formed on the other side of the valve plate around a periphery of the discharge hole, wherein the suction valve and discharge valve are respectively spot-welded on the bottom of each mounting groove by their fixed ends(52,63). |
