<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calculation method for rack axial force with high accuracy capable of being registered to an actual measurement value in vehicle steering. <P>SOLUTION: When a rack bar 52 and a tie rod 54 are displaced by steering, a tire 70 is turned as a dotted line and a camber angle is also varied. At this time, a ground contact point J of the tire 70 is also displaced. The rack bar 52 performs work for rotating a steering wheel 58 by the stroke. Whereas, when a ground-contact surface is pulled by the steering, the tire 70 generates work by friction.
