<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system capable of setting a network device or an electric appliance by an inherent address without limiting to terminal equipment connected locally. <P>SOLUTION: A setting method for setting an electric appliance by an inherent address comprises the following steps: a smart phone 100 accesses an inherent address to be assigned for setting a television set 10-a; a Web server 200 corresponding to the inherent address responds to the access; a guidance is displayed; and a user's input operation is accepted. A setting data on the setting of the television set 10-a is generated and stored based on the input operation from the smart phone 100.
