<p>Closed, sterile system (A) for filtering liquids, especially whole blood. Closed, sterile system (A) for filtering liquids, especially whole blood, comprises: (a) a first collapsible container (1) for receiving liquid to be filtered; (b) filter (16), including a housing (17) divided into two chambers by a filter material, where one chamber has an outlet and the other an inlet; and (c) second collapsible chamber (23) for holding filtered liquid, all connected in line. The new features are that (1) contains a predetermined amount of air and, in the connecting line between filter and (23), there is a third collapsible container (15) for dearation of (23). The capacity of (15) is smaller than those of (1) or (23). An independent claim is also included for a method of filtering liquids, especially whole blood, that uses the new system.</p> |
