PURPOSE: A colored powder for food decoration and a making method thereof are provided to decorate foods with various colors which does not easily melt down or is not easily absorbed into foods due to water transition or oil transition. CONSTITUTION: A making method of colored powder for food decoration comprises the following steps: a step of coating usual decoration powder with a hydrogenated vegetable oil and cooling down the powder; a step of mixing the coated powder with a sitologically acceptable pigment and stirring the mixture at 120-150rpm and cooling down the mixture; and a step of smashing the cooled powder at a high speed and filtering the powder through a mash type sieve for regulating the powders. The usual decoration powder includes 82-90 wt% crystalline dextrose and 10-18 wt% dextrose. The usual decoration powder includes 86-90 wt% crystalline, 9-13 wt% dextrose, and 1~5 wt% starch. Additionally, 6-10 wt% cocoa powder or coffee powder is included in the usual decoration powder. The hydrogenated vegetable oil which is a mixture of shortening and CBR shortening has a melting point between 40°C and 45°C. The pigment is a natural derived pigment of red, yellow, green, blue, brown, or mixed colors. The colored powder for food decoration includes 7-14 wt% hydrogenated vegetable oil, 0.6 wt% or less pigment, and 0.6 wt% or less sitologically permitted flavor.
