The invention relates to an attachment device 100 for attaching a safety apparatus rope (150 figure 1D) i.e. a rope of a safety net to a construction element i.e. a beam (152 figure 1H). The device comprises an attachment section 120 for hooking the device onto the construction element, a shank section 110 transverse to the attachment section, and a hooked rope receiving section 130 having a mouth 134A & 143B and a rope receiving region 132. The receiving section is configured to receive a length of rope transversely through the mouth and into the receiving region of the receiving section. The receiving section is configured to prevent the removal of the device from a substantially straight section of the rope transversely to the length of the rope solely under the weight of the device. The device attachment section also comprises engagement arms 122A, 122B for engaging the construction element that are laterally spaced apart.
