<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for photo-modifying natural fibers, which is an energy-saving type, and by which the dyeability and the like of fibers or a fiber product containing natural fibers can safely be modified in a simple process at room temperature, and to provide an apparatus therefor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for photo-modifying the natural fibers is characterized by irradiating fibers or fiber product containing the natural fibers with light in the presence of a compound producing a radical by the irradiation of light. The compound producing the radical by the irradiation of light is preferably a peroxide.
