The 1-nitroanthraquinones are prepd. by nitration of anthraquinones in the presence of phosphoric acid. The reaction mixture contains a maximum of 16 wt. % H2O, pref. up to 5%. The phosphoric acid has a P2O5 content >61 wt. % and the nitrating agent is nitric acid >40 wt. %. Suitable temps. are 0-125 degrees C, pref. 30-90 degrees C. |
