1316538 Slide fastener E BEITTER 22 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 59819/71 Heading E2S A sliding clasp fastener is formed of continuous filament coupling elements 2 attached by means of thread loops or of welds to carrier elements 1 consisting of a continuous, bend resistant wire in the form of a uniform sequence of meander portions or loops, which may take various forms e.g. the loops may overlap or be of figure of eight shape, and be interconnected by welds. The limbs of the carrier element may have recesses 16 in which lie loops of the fixing thread by means of which the fastener is attached to an article. To vary rigidity, thread or plastics wire may be fixed across the limbs of the carrier element. The loops may be bent either at right angles to, or in, the plane of the carrier elements. The fastener is produced by simultaneously securing the coupling elements of a row to the wire forming the carrier element, and banding this wire to its final shape. A carrier element may be attached to a strip of film material which is then sewn to the article, or the fastener may be attached to the article by means of fixing threads sewn across the carrier loops and parallel to the fastener element or of stitches near the rearward curved ends of the carrier element. |
