PURPOSE: A method for enhancing the content of cinnamic acid in a Lemna minor plant is provided to especially suppress phenolic compounds of tyrosinase and to remove the reactive oxygen. CONSTITUTION: A method for enhancing the content of cinnamic acid in Lemna minor comprises a step of culturing Lemna minor in a medium containing proline and sugar. The sugar includes glucose, fructose, mannose, arabinose, xylose, galactose, ribose, melibiose, cellobiose, maltose, sucrose, or lactose. The content of the sugar and proline in the medium is 0.5-7 wt% and 0.1-5 mM, respectively. The medium is of a Murashige and Skoog(MS) medium.
