PURPOSE: A composition containing a methanol extract or an ethanol extract of Cudrania tricuspidata leaves is provided to protect the nerve cells and to prevent, relieve, and treat nerve cell injuries. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating nerve cell injuries contains a methanol extract or an ethanol extract of Cudrania tricuspidata leaves. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases, spinal cord injury, peripheral nerve injury, stroke, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, Pick's disease, or Jacob-Creutzfeldt disease. A pharmaceutical product contains the pharmaceutical composition and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or additive. A food composition for preventing or treating nerve cell injury contains a methanol or an ethanol extract.
