A fuel pump (10) for a large turbocharged two-stroke diesel engine that is operated with alternative fuel that does flot have good lubrication properties or operated with fuel that is even abrasive. The fuel pump (10) is provided with a secondary plunger (30), a secondary bore and a secondary pump chamber (32) for pumping lubrication/sealing oil into the clearance between the main plunger (14) and the main bore (15) and into the clearance between the secondary plunger (30) and the secondary bore to prevent fuel from entering into those clearances and to assure proper lubrication. A lubrication/sealing oil conduit (42) is formed in the main plunger (14) and connects the secondary pump charnber (32) to the clearance between the main plunger (14) and the main bore.
