An LCD and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to form a common electrode and a pixel electrode vertically on a substrate, thereby improving an aperture ratio. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) includes a substrate, a gate wiring(101), a data wiring(107), a common wiring(103), a TFT(Thin Film Transistor), a protection layer, plural pixel electrodes(170), plural common electrodes(160), and an uneven part(P1). The gate wiring and the data wiring are alternately formed to each other and define a pixel region. The common wiring is formed in correspondence with the gate wiring. The TFT is formed in the pixel region. The protection layer is positioned on the TFT and has plural opening regions(P) composed of at least four side walls. The pixel electrodes are connected to the TFT. The common electrodes are electrically connected to the common wiring. The uneven part is formed in at least one side wall composing the opening region. |
