A liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to shield light leakage between data lines and pixel electrodes by forming dummy patterns at right and left sides of the data lines, and simplify a repair process through the dummy patterns. Gate electrodes(121), gate lines(116), and dummy patterns(150) are formed on a substrate(110). A first insulator film(115A) is formed on the gate electrodes and the gate lines. Switching elements formed of source electrodes(122), drain electrodes(123), and an active layer(120') are formed at the gate electrodes. Data lines(117) are formed on the substrate, crossing the gate lines and placing the dummy patterns on one side. A second insulator film is formed on the substrate. A partial area of the second insulator film is removed to form first contact holes exposing parts of the drain electrodes. Pixel electrodes(118) are electrically connected with the drain electrodes through the first contact holes. |
