In order to drive the main shaft (10) directly in a ribbon loom and in the process to make both a high standstill torque and high rotational speeds possible, the invention proposes a brushless DC motor (2) which is configured as an external rotor as the drive means. This motor (2) has a stator (20) having windings (22) and a rotor (4) having a rotor bell (16), and is configured as a DC motor having an asymmetrical multi-pole design. Its rotor (4) which is fitted with permanent magnets (18) is connected directly without a dedicated bearing point to the main shaft (10) of the ribbon loom. |
