PURPOSE: A portable terminal driving method using a detection sensor is provided to prevent driving errors by enabling a user to control the operation of a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(60) set a current location as a reference location in a portable terminal or moves a cursor for selecting a driving line of the portable terminal to a random reference point. When the reference point of the cursor or the reference location of the portable terminal is selected, the control unit determines a signal outputted from a motion detection sensor. The control unit moves the cursor according to the direction, number, or angle of movements.
