<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To isolate from an ammoniacal activated sludge a catechol splitting enzyme to be usable, which enzyme can split catechol even in an ammoniacal liquor of a specific composition, discharged from a coke oven, and further to provide a waste water treatment method using the catechol splitting enzyme. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a catechol splitting enzyme encoded with a DNA of a base sequence comprising a specific sequence. Further, there is also provided a splitting method for the catechol in waste water, which comprises mixing the at least one catechol splitting enzyme with waste water containing catechol to split the catechol in the waste water. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
