PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic book binding direction determination device which is capable of determining the most suitable binding direction of an electronic book including vertical typesetting and horizontal typesetting of text together.

SOLUTION: The electronic book binding direction determination device includes: a typesetting direction information acquisition unit 22 which divides data of an electronic book into a plurality of flows (divided ranges) in accordance with a preliminarily determined rule and acquires typesetting direction information showing that sentences are vertically written or horizontally written in each of the plurality of flows, from data of the electronic book; a sentence amount acquisition unit 24 which acquires the sum total of amounts of vertically written sentences in flows where the typesetting direction is vertical, out of the plurality of flows and acquires the sum total of amounts of horizontally written sentences in flows where the typesetting direction is horizontal, out of the plurality of flows on the basis of typesetting direction information of the plurality of flows acquired by the typesetting direction information acquisition unit 22; and a binding direction determination unit 26 which determines a binding direction of the electronic book on the basis of the sum total of amounts of vertically written sentences and the sum total of amount of horizontally written sentences, which are acquired by the sentence amount acquisition unit 24.
