PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accessory with high convenience.

SOLUTION: An accessory controlled by a camera, includes: a storage section that stores information regarding an accessory function of the accessory; and an accessory control section that transmits the information stored in the storage section to the camera, in which the storage section stores first information by which the camera determines whether the accessory has an extended function and second information indicating characteristics of the accessory function, and the accessory control section transmits the first information, and then transmits the second information.
