<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use up an amount of greenhouse gas emission (credit purchase amount) with zero waste imparted to consumables beforehand. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a credit purchase amount obtaining part obtaining the amount of greenhouse gas emission of the consumables; an electric energy detection part 203 detecting electric energy consumed in printing; a data reference part referring to the conversion data of the amount of greenhouse gas emission per unit of electric energy; a calculation part 212 calculating the amount of greenhouse gas emission for printing using the consumables, based on the detected electric energy and the conversion data; a use amount detection part 213 obtaining the amount of use of the consumables; a printing setting part presenting initial setting for printing and accepting a change from a user; and a control part 201 controlling printing according to the accepted setting. The control part 201 estimates the amount of greenhouse gas emission exhausted until the consumables are used up, based on the amount of use of the consumables and the calculated amount of greenhouse gas emission and sets a printing density lower than that in the initial setting, as the initial setting, when the estimated amount of greenhouse gas emission is less than the credit purchase amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
