Provided are an image processing apparatus, an image displaying apparatus, an image processing method and a program for allowing the whole of a three-dimensional image and a partial internal structure thereof to be ascertained at the same time. An image processing apparatus according to an embodiment of the invention comprises an acquiring unit, a first setting unit, a second setting unit and a processing unit. The acquiring unit acquires a three-dimensional image. A designating unit designates, in response to a user input, three-dimensional coordinate values in the three-dimensional image. The first setting unit sets an indication area that indicates an area including the three-dimensional coordinate values. The second setting unit sets an occlusion area that indicates an area occluding the indication area when the three-dimensional image is viewed. The processing unit performs an image processing of the three-dimensional image such that a presentation of the occlusion area becomes close to transparency as compared with the presentation of the other areas.
