PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent phthalocyanine crystal that has high sensitivity, maintains constant sensitivity against changes in humidity of a usage environment, and is suitably used for a material of a solar cell, electronic paper, or an electrophotographic photoreceptor, and the like.

SOLUTION: Phthalocyanine crystal is obtained through a step for causing phthalocyanine crystal precursor to contact an aromatic aldehyde compound to change the crystal type.
