An apparatus and method by which a rear-facing, ceiling-mounted entertainment display (102) for a vehicle (100) can be made transparent or virtually transparent to a vehicle's driver (118) uses a camera (124) and a second, forward-facing display panel (128) on which is projected an image of what the entertainment display blocks from the driver's view. The camera (124) is attached to the entertainment display (102) and captures image- forming light blocked to the driver's rear-view mirror (120) by the downwardly extending entertainment display. The second display panel (128) projects forwardly, i.e., toward the rear-view mirror (120), what the camera sees looking rearwardly.
