PURPOSE: A data encoding/decoding device and a method thereof are provided to output a single compressed symbol string by dividing a binary symbol string into multiple binary symbol strings with short length and compressing the divided binary symbol strings. CONSTITUTION: A binary symbol converter(310) divides a binary character string into two partial character strings. The binary symbol converter generates compression restoring information containing identification information for the remaining symbol values. The first partial character string of the two divided partial character strings is inputted into a first binary symbol compressor(320). The second partial character string of the two divided partial character strings is inputted into a second binary symbol compressor(330). The first compressed digital signal and the second compressed digital signal are inputted into a connector(340). The connector outputs a single compressed digital signal by connecting the first compressed digital signal and the second compressed digital signal.
