PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To track a pattern image with a camera recognition system.

SOLUTION: To project an infrared or near infrared image onto a reference surface from a projection device placed on a guiding object such as a pen or pointer in order to find and continuously follow orientation of the guiding object such as a pen or pointer relative to the reference surface.
