The present invention is constructed so as to include: a polarized light beam splitter (1) that divides incident pulse laser light; electro-optic elements (2a, 2b) that polarize incident pulse laser light in accordance with an applied voltage; a polarization control means (3) that controls the polarization of the pulse laser light incident to the electro-optic elements by applying voltage to the electro-optic elements and by controlling the voltage; and a light path forming means (4), which is equipped with multiple mirrors (4a, 4b, 4c) that reflect the pulse laser light that has passed through the electro-optic elements and cause this light to enter the polarized light beam splitter, and which forms a light path that causes the pulse laser light to re-enter the electro-optic elements. The pulse laser light divided by the polarized light beam splitter travels around the light path and the phase is shifted, and this phase-shifted pulse laser light overlaps, and thus the pulse width is expanded.
