IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, AND METHOD FOR ATTACHING SHEET MEMBER TO SUPPORTING MEANS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which maintains contact condition of a transfer sheet and a transfer belt or an intermediate transfer belt and prevents transfer failures and image defects from occurring.

SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a rotatable photoreceptor drum 1 which carries a toner image; a movable intermediate transfer belt 13 to which the toner image from the photoreceptor drum 1 is transferred; a sheet member 32 which comes into contact with the intermediate transfer belt 13 from the opposite side of the photoreceptor 1; and an elastic member 31 which presses the sheet member 32 from the opposite side of the photoreceptor drum 1 towards the direction of the intermediate transfer belt 13. The toner image is transferred from the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 to the intermediate transfer belt 13 by a transfer bias being applied to the sheet member 32. A tension Fc is applied to the sheet member 32 in a direction perpendicular to the moving direction of the intermediate transfer belt 13.
