The invention relates to a method for producing olefins from a liquid hydrocarbon product by means of thermal cracking, wherein a maximum of 3% of hydrocarbons of the hydrocarbon product are unsaturated hydrocarbons, wherein the raw gas generated during the thermal cracking is freed from impurities and subsequently split into the individual components, in particular hydrocarbons, and wherein the raw gas (3) comprises the components ethylene and propylene. The raw gas (3) comprises propylene and ethylene in a propylene/ethylene ratio of more than 0.8 kg/kg.
