Disclosed are a central pylon for a vertical axis wind turbine and a construction method thereof, wherein the central pylon (1) is of a steel reinforced concrete structure with a channel (12) provided in the centre of the central pylon (1) extending from the base to the top thereof, the central pylon (1) is provided with two or more mounting platforms (2) encircling the central pylon (1) for mounting electric generators (5), and the mounting platforms (2) are constructed integrally with the central pylon (1) by cement casting. The construction steps thereof are as follows: laying the foundations of the central pylon (1); constructing an inner formwork and an outer formwork of the central pylon (1) on the foundations, wherein a pouring cavity is formed between the inner and outer formworks, a steel member (3) is embedded into the pouring cavity, with the inner formwork being of a tubular form, and the outer formwork being provided with two or more circular projecting cavities for forming the mounting platforms (2) that encircle the central pylon (1) and are used for mounting the electric generators (5), and the circular projecting cavities and the pouring cavity are in communication with each other; and pouring concrete between the inner and outer formworks. Power generating sets can be arranged on the mounting platforms, with each generating set and a wind wheel (4) forming an independent power generating unit, and by providing a plurality of power generating units on one central pylon, the overall electricity generation power of a vertical axis wind turbine is increased. |
