In order to suppress flickering perceived when the refresh frequency changes, the drive device outputs an alternating current voltage for the image signal voltage, stepwise changes the application period for the image signal voltage within (T1 + T20) - (T1 + T22), and also stepwise changes the common voltage applied to the counter electrodes by ?Vcom at each step.
