<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that forms an image with higher quality on a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer body 53; a transfer unit U2; and an application mechanism 20 that is arranged to face the intermediate transfer body 53, and applies pre-wet liquid to a toner image T held by the intermediate transfer body 53 on the upstream of the transfer unit U2 in a direction of movement of the toner image T. The application mechanism 20 includes a coating body 24 to which the pre-set liquid 22 is supplied. The coating body 24 is arranged so that the pre-wet liquid 22 can be in contact with the surface of the intermediate transfer body 53. The surfaces of the intermediate transfer body 53 and the coating body 24 move at substantially the same speed to each other. The pre-wet liquid 22 is applied to the toner image T through the contact with the toner image T. When the pre-wet liquid 22 is applied to the toner image T, the toner image is pressed against the intermediate transfer body 53 by a potential difference formed between the intermediate transfer body 53 and the coating body 24. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
