<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric element which is easily manufactured and enhances mechanical strength, has heat resistance and achieves good output efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A piezoelectric element is composed of: a cylindrical shaped piezoelectric material made of a single crystal; a first electrode provided at an outer peripheral surface of the piezoelectric material; and a second electrode provided at an inner peripheral surface of the piezoelectric material and acting as an opposite electrode to the first electrode. The axial direction of the cylindrical shape is matched with a stress application axis.
