The device has luminous elements (41, 42) with a lamp emitting electromagnetic radiation in a visible region. Emission of the electromagnetic radiation takes place via plasma discharge i.e. low pressure plasma discharge. The lamp comprises an exciplex cluster. The luminous elements are partially arranged in a hot area (10). Electronics components (43, 44) are separately arranged outside the hot area by the luminous elements. A carrier profile is made of glass, metal or ceramic materials. Operating modes of the illumination device are adjusted with a regulation- and control unit of hot area. An independent claim is also included for a hot area.
