PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accessory, a camera, and a camera system with high convenience, for increasing the responsiveness of the camera system including the camera and the accessory connected to an accessory shoe of the camera.

SOLUTION: An accessory is an illumination device including a flash light emitting section and a continuous illumination emitting section. The accessory is supplied with power from a camera, and has a moving image capture mode and a still image capture mode. The accessory includes an accessory control section that selects and controls a process executed in the accessory in accordance with an image capture mode of the camera.
