The method involves emitting a single sequence of electromagnetic signals of with modulated frequencies. Echo signals of the transmitted sequence of electromagnetic signals are received. Two fields are created from multiple received echo signals, where the created fields are evaluated with respect to a parameter. Modulation of the frequencies of the single sequence generates exclusively increasing frequencies of electromagnetic signals or linearly falling frequencies of electromagnetic signals. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for determining a parameter for the correlation of two objects, particularly distance and relative speed of two objects.
