A cutting unit for a boring machine, for connecting to the turntable of the boring machine, comprises a cutting head; a cutting electric motor for providing the driving force required by the cutting head; a cutting step-down gear connected to the cutting electric motor; an extendible part with one end thereof connected to the cutting step-down gear and the other end to the cutting head, and an extension driving device for driving the extension of the extendible part; and further comprises a connecting frame device with one end thereof hinged to the turntable; wherein one end of the extension driving device is securely connected to the other end of the connecting frame device, the other end of the extension driving device is connected to the extendible part, and the cutting electric motor and the cutting step-down gear are fixed to the connecting frame device. A boring machine comprises the cutting unit for a boring machine as described above. When configured in this way, the cutting unit for a boring machine is able to effectively avoid the problem that the cutting electric motor and the cutting step-down gear are prone to breaking apart.
