anilides - having antiandrogenic activity. Novel Title cpds. of formula: (where R = cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, loweralkyl having at least one sec. or tert. C-atom; R1 = H, lower alkyl; Y = Br, I, NO2, - COOH (opt. esterified with lower alkanol), OH, lower alkoxy, lower alkanoyl, lower alkanoyloxy, lower polyfluoroalkoxy, CF3S-, CF3-SO-, CF3-SO2-, lower polyfluoroalkyl (with the exception of CF3); X = NO2, I, CF3, Br (with the exception of case where X = Y = Br) or Y = CF3 and X = I, Br or when R = 6-8C alkyl at least two of the C atoms being sec. or tert., X may also be NO2) and their salts are used to treat prostate hypertrophy, Stein-Leventhal syndrome, idiophatic hirsutims and acne. They can be used in veterinary medicine as a means of chemical castration. |
