<p>An automatic machine for sealing glass or plastic tubes comprises a motorised mandrel to grip the tube and make it turn on its axis, two jaws driven by pneumatically operated pistons on either side of the tube and a hot air pistol to heat the part of the tube to be sealed. The device enables rapid sealing of polytrifluoromonochloroethylene tubes for test samples of dangerous materials. The electric motor is pref. carried by a horizontal arm which can slide along a vertical column. The lower portion of the tube to be sealed may be immersed in a Dewar flask contg. liquid N2.</p> |
