The sunshade or curtain comprises a number of narrow oblong slats with perforated surfaces and edges bent over in opposite directions, while a housing accommodates a drive mechanism moving the slats in and out through an opening, the edges of the slats engaging with each other. Alongside the opening are one or more oblong brushes (12, 13) bearing against the surfaces of the slats (8). The brushes can be mounted opposite each other, the slats passing between them. The design ensures that any sand or dirt blown onto the slats is automatically removed.
