PURPOSE: A device for measuring the thickness of a web with a rotary roll and a controlling method thereof are provided to measure the thickness of an object, thereby reducing costs and preventing a radiation leak. CONSTITUTION: A device for measuring the thickness of a web with a rotary roll comprises a first measuring sensor(110), a second measuring sensor(120), and a controller. The first measuring sensor consecutively measures a distance from a position where the first measuring sensor is placed to a position where the first measuring sensor touches to the object of the rotary roll when the object is not existed or a distance from the position where the first measuring sensor touches to the object when the object is not existed to a position of the corresponding object when the object is touched to the rotary roll and transferred. The second measuring sensor is arranged in a position facing to the first measuring sensor around the rotary roll and measures a distance from a position where the second measuring sensor is placed to a position of the rotary roll when the rotary roll rotates. The controller consecutively calculates the thickness of the object with a difference between the distance measured by the first measuring sensor when the object is not existed and a distance when the object is existed while compensating rotary focal errors with a difference between the distance measured by the first measuring sensor and the distance measured by the second measuring sensor. |
