Effluents from viscose rayon mfr. contg. 0. 1-1% Zn in H2SO4 in the presence of Na, Mg, carbohydrates, sulphides, xanthates, and surfactants are electrolysed using a rotating Al cathode pref. in a diaphgram cell. pH is maintained in range 4-7 by addn. of NaOH and the soln. is pref. buffered with Na acetate.
