1442022 Endoprosthetic joints DOW CORNING CORP 13 Aug 1974 [27 Aug 1973] 35569/74 Heading A5R A flexible, endoprosthetic hinge joint comprises a one-piece body 10, Fig. 4 of silicone rubber having a distal stem 14, a proximal stem 16, and an enlarged mid section 12 extending transversely to the stems and having a channel 22 formed along its transverse length and opening from the Volar surface 20 of the joint, the proximal wall 26 of the channel having a central depression 34 which accommodates a thickened portion 30 of the distal stem on flexing the joint. An outwardly projecting portion 24 is formed on the dorsal surface 18 of the mid section. The stems are generally rectangular in cross-section and taper from their intersection with the mid section to their respective tips, the distal stem being slightly offset dorsally with respect to the proximal stem. The dorsal and Volar surfaces may have shallow dimples 38 Fig. 7 for tissue in growth. The joint is described with particular reference to finger joints. Specification 1192960 is referred to. |
