PURPOSE: A mold width controlling apparatus is provided to control the width of a mold according to the result of the real time measurement of the long side width of molten steel slab drawn from the mold, thereby maintaining constantly the long side width of the molten steel slab drawn to the lower part of the mold. CONSTITUTION: A mold width controlling apparatus comprises a variable location roller unit(100), a displacement measurement unit(200), a width adjustment value operation unit(300), and a mold width control unit. The position of the variable position roller unit is displaced by a molten steel slab drawn from a mold. The displacement measurement unit measures the displacement of the variable location roller unit. The width adjustment value operation unit calculates the width correction value of the mold from a displacement of the variable position roller unit measured at the displacement measurement unit. The mold width control unit corrects the width of the mold according to the width correction value calculated at the width adjustment value operation unit. The variable location roller unit comprises a variable roller, a roller support part supporting the variable roller and an elastic part formed with a connection to the bottom surface of the roller support part.
