A method for predicting transition of the clinically isolated syndrome to the multiple sclerosis comprises medical history taking with the assessment of the time of appearance of the clinically isolated syndrome, the symptoms and their sequence. Clinico-laboratory examination comprises SSP-PCR detection of HLA alleles and MRT for the assessment of the number and location of the pathologic foci and perifocal edema. Then the risk of transition of the clinically isolated syndrome to the multiple sclerosis is estimated with gender of the patient, number of demyelization foci, presence of perifocal edema, and risk-associated HLA alleles being considered as risk factors. |
