The system (1) has a current measuring unit measuring stator and rotor currents, and a transforming unit (9) transforming the measured currents into values. A stator current correcting unit (4) corrects the stator current value, and a rotor current correcting unit (5) corrects the rotor current value. The correcting units reduce the contribution of harmonics in the current values taken into account by a stator voltage control unit (2) and a rotor voltage control unit (3) to determine a supply voltage of an electrical machine (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an electric machine.
